The very nature of traditionalism is such that the movement is the natural accompaniment to environmental rtesponsibility, wise use of natural resources, and the promotion of well-being for both the makers and the users of traditional products, and the pleasant life to which such make and use gives rise.

MESSRS. HALE & CO. have, in certain instances, gone beyond the providing of the articles with which to make things, and now trade in items which enable users to obtain their own raw materials, and also to carry certain finished products of the best make. In addition, Messrs. Hale & Co. have carefully selected certain items that improve safety, assist primitive skills and survival, and, indeed, enable one truly to build a palace in the wilderness, whether that wilderness be natural or manmade. In addition, Messrs. Hale & Co. offer certain products which they have found reliable and useful, offered in a section called Things That Work, a blessing in this day and age when names and promises are shoved down the throats of the consumer who would rather have substance.

MESSRS. HALE & CO. have the motto, Nihil Nisi Optimum, which is the Latin for Nothing But the Best. Messrs. Hale & Co. take their motto very seriously, and carry only such items as are used in the making of the best articles. Those who have never known how much safer, easier, and more pleasant it is to use good tools and materials are in for a pleasant surprise.

Although the PRICE of some of these items may seem high, it is well to remember that the Quality of these items is far superior to any other makes. Superior High quality means an immense savings over even a short period of time, for, normally, these items last much longer than inferior articles. Quality means that the articles are tougher, and can thus take harder wear. Tools and Materials of Quality are a joy to use, not a trial of patience. Materials of high quality lead to greatly increased satisfaction of customers, meaning fewer or no returns, difficulties with service, and complaints. The oldest company, being the oldest tannery in the world, established over 2,500 years ago, well before Julius Cæsar invaded Britain, Messrs. J. &. F. J. BAKER, LTD., whose general, sole, insole, saddlery, harness, modelling, tooling, and garment leathers, made the traditional way, are unsurpassed, and used by the best makers throughout the world.

The next oldest company, established in 1740, is Messrs. RICHARD CARTER, LTD., the makers of the best spades, shovels, picks, and heavy mining, excavating, archæological, agricultural, railway, gardening, and general heavy hand tools in the world.

Messrs. THOS. FLINN & CO., LTD., are successors to the famous PAX, est. 1760, LYNX, and TYZACK traditions of hand sawmaking, and make the best woodworking and stonemason's hand saws in the world.

Messrs. G. GIBSON, LTD., have amalgamated an enormous variety of traditions, including the venerable firm of G. FAULDS & CO., makers of the finest stonemason's hand tools in the world, and produce the best stonemason's and woodworker's steel measuring tools, adzes, drawknives, and forestry tools.

BRIDGE OF WEIR are the makers of the best upholstery leather in the world, and are used in the Aston-Martin motor-cars, the best horse-drawn carriages, and the best furniture.
